Tokio Hotel, back in the day ( older news)

Bio
Identical twin brothers, Bill Kaulitz (b. September 1, 1989) and Tom Kaulitz (born 10 minutes before his brother) performed in small shows and talent shows as children. They later met schoolmates, Gustav Schäfer and Georg Listing and their similar tastes in music led them to create a band called Devilish. They played small shows since 2001 and by 2003, were approached by a music executive, Peter Hoffman. They were signed to the Universal music label in Hamburg, Germany and changed their name to Tokio Hotel (Tokio for the city of Tokyo, and "Hotel" because they toured and slept in hotels a lot).
Their first single "Durch den Monsun" (Through the Monsoon) quickly gained popularity after its release, appearing on the German music charts at #15 on August 20th and reaching #1 on August 26th 2005; it reached #1 on the Austrian music charts as well. Their second single was "Schrei" (Scream), which climbed to #5 of the German charts. They released their debut album Schrei on the 19th September of 2005; lead singer Bill Kaulitz, wrote the majority of the songs. In early 2006, their third single "Rette mich" (Rescue Me) was released, and it reached #1 a s well. Their first single from "Zimmer 483" (their second album) called "Übers Ende Der Welt" (About the End of the World) was released January 26th, 2007. It has also reached #1. The "Zimmer 483" album was released on February 23rd, 2007. A deluxe addition of the album is available as well. The "Zimmer 483" tour was supposed to start in March, but was delayed by two weeks because the band members wished to use a new stage. However, all of the tickets bought for the tour are still valid.

Largely popular pop band from Magdeburg, Ger many. Their debut single "Durch den Monsun" (Through the monsoon) became #1 of the German Single Charts in August 2005, which made them the youngest band reaching the top of the charts ever.

The band members are Bill Kaulitz (vocals), his twin brother Tom Kaulitz (guitar), Georg Listing (bass) and Gustav Schäfer (drums).

Won the prize for "Best Newcomer national" at the 2006 Echo Awards.

Following the group's success in other European countries such as France, Poland and Russia, Tokio Hotel will release some English language songs in 2007.

Accompaning the band's rise exclusively since its beginnings, the circulation of German teenage magazine "Bravo" has rose by 22%.

After first appearing as "Devilish" in 2001, the band signed a record deal with Universal Music Domestic Division and changed its name to Tokio Hotel (2003).

Twins Bill Kaulitz and Tom Kaulitz (born ten minutes before his brother) had been performing since the age of 9. After putting on a show in their hometown of Magdeburg in 2001, Bill and Tom met Gustav Schäfer and Georg Listing. Their similar taste in music led to the creation of the band 'Devilish'. In 2003, the group was appro ached by music producer Peter Hoffmann and were soon after signed with Universal Music Domestic Division in Hamburg. They were then known as 'Tokio Hotel' (Significance: 'Tokio' for the lively and engaging city of Tokyo and 'Hotel' for the band's constant touring around the country). Assisted by professionals, Bill co-wrote the majority of the songs on their album, Schrei (Scream).

Career

The music video of their debut single "Durch d en Monsun" (Through the Monsoon) has been playing on German television since July of 2005. The band quickly gained a multitude of fans after its release. The single appeared on the German music charts at #15 on August 20th and reached #1 on August 26th. It also climbed to #1 on the Austrian music charts. Second video was "Schrei"...This video also climbed to #1 all over Europe. They released their album Schrei in September of 2005. In early 2006, their third music video "Rette Mich" (Save Me) was released. This version of the song was different from the original version on their first album because of Bill's now propubescent voice and some instrumental differences. "Rette Mich" made it to the #1 spot as well. The rerelease of their first album was initiated by Bill's voice change and was released with three new songs ("Schwarz (Black), "Beichte" (Confession) and "Thema nr. 1" (Topic #1) in March 2006 titled Schrei: So Laut Du Kannst (Schrei - Noch Lauter Edition) (Scream: As Loud As You Can (Scream - Even Louder Edition)). In September 2006 they released their fourth and last single from their album Schrei: "Der Letzte Tag" (The Last Day). This song also made it into the number one position. The video for "Der Letzte Tag" also includes a bonus track called "Wir Schliessen Uns Ein" (We Lock Ourselves Away).

Popularity, controversy, and criticism

Tokio Hotel is largely popular among teenage girls, of whom most are drawn by the sex appeal of the lead singer of the band, Bill Kaulitz and his twin brother Tom. There has been controversy about Bill's androgynous look (long unconventional dyed hairstyle, black nail polish, unconventional wardrobe), in spite of the fact that the young Kaulitz has made it clear that he is simply an artist expressing himself through his music as well as through his choice of clothing. There has also been controversy about Bill and Tom's weight and concern that their 'unhealthy' underweightness might cause complications for themselv es as well as send a bad message to their fans. Furthermore, the band members have been criticized for being 'too young and immature' and for having their music composed and arranged by their production company for them.It is also said that Bill Kaulitz copied his hair style from Japanese singer Miyavi and band style from HIM.

Currently

According to recent interviews with the band, they are in the process of releasing their second album in English to gain international success and are currently improving their English skills. Recently 4 of their songs in English: "Through the Monsoon", "Scream", "Black" , and "Rescue Me" were leaked. A Universal Music spokeman assured that the versions are NOT Official, and that legal actions will be taken against those involv ed in the distribution of the songs.Tokio Hotel just performed the song Instant Karma by John Lennon at the "50 JAHRE BRAVO" (50 years of bravo ,bravo is a very populer german ma gazine)at the 21.10.2006. Tokio H otel are currently working very har d on the second CD that's due to come o ut in 2007.

Cinema Bizarre (Older news)

Bio
Cinema Bizarre is a German rock band from Berlin. The group members met in 2005 at an anime convention. They formed a band, incorporating elements of glam rock, gothic rock, new wave, and visual kei.[1] They signed to Island Records and released their debut albu m in 2007, which is a hit in Germany and Austria.

The group was a finalist to represent Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 with the song "Forever or Never", but was not chosen. According to the band, Strify, Yu and Kiro met at a manga convention in 2005. They talked to Shin and Luminor via internet, and so the last two members of the band were found. Their first single CD "Lovesongs (They Kill Me)" was released on September 14, 2007, two weeks after their first live performance in the German music show The Dome, Europe's largest music event.[2].

The Norddeutscher Rundfunk (north German television broadcast) nominated the band for the national final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2008, but Cinema Bizarre didn't manage to stand up to the No Angels and Carolin Fortenbacher, who made it into the second election round of the final.

As of March 28, 2008, they went on a big tou r throughout Europe.
